Our Story

It all started in 2011 when we met at Dave Kim's art show...Nathan went bc Dave Kim...Melody went bc her roommate knew Dave Kim and their community group ended earlier that night than usual. Melody saw Barta and another friend from Caljourney (a Christian fellowship at Cal that often changes its name) and Barta signaled Nathan to come over. How do I change the margins on this thing?

6 months later, Nathan reached out to Melody through facebook. It was also the week before Melody would be moving down to LA for the next 5 years. Neither of us know how to code but yet here we are writing in HTML on geocities resurrected.

Melody's Perspective:

Nathan's Perspective:

(notice the date of the messages?? IT'S THE SAME DATE AS THE WEDDING. THAT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL!!)

Nathan and Melody kept in touch through fb and imessage. When Melody came back to the Bay to visit her family, she also let Nathan know and they hung out. Melody soon started thinking this Nathan person, who was so different from her introverted self, was interesting. Observe an email she wrote to her friend Grace, who knows the story well, and is one of her bridesmaids:

Nathan on the other hand, was more and more tickled by how Melody's sense of humor was dry but very amusing. He was also fascinated by her thoughts on faith, music, social issues, life, and food. They had many good conversations about these things.

Apparently they started liking each other but didn't really tell the other person until 2014 when things exploded and they did not talk until 2016 when Nathan drove down to LA and told Melody everything and took her on a real date finally, which involved LACMA, Father's Office, and the Santa Monica pier (Nathan had many long conversations with Barta about how nervous he felt leading up to this trip. Thankfully, Barta drove with him down to the LA Basin while playing an odd combination of Frank Ocean and Neil Young.) Oh, Melody misses LA as she writes those words.

Finally, after working through a lot of misunderstandings, they got together.

In conclusion, isn't it fascinating that God wrote this bizarre narrative for them?

The end...

But really...
