For Our Out of Town Friends and Family~

What to do~

1. Walk around Lake Merrit in Oakland!

Did you know that Oakland has a big goregous lake right in the middle of the city?! If you have never been, you must take a stroll around any part of the lake and take in the beauty of the scenery.

Oakland Museum! Friday Nights at OMCA!

1000 Oak St., Oakland, CA, 94607
www.museumca.org/friday-nights-omca
The place where the wedding is at itself!! You get free museum admission for the day! Just go to the main ticket booth and explain that you are with the wedding. They have really cool exhibits there! The night before the wedding the Museum is POPPIN' with live bands, food trucks, and tons of fun! You can bust out your salsa moves and eat some tasty chicken and waffles all at the same time. The even is family friendly too. It's free to go to! If you want a good taste of what fun life here in Oakland is like, check this out! It's so cool!!

Children's Fairyland

699 Bellevue Ave., Oakland, CA, 94610
www.fairyland.org
Have children who want mild pre-wedding amusement? Take them to the Children's Fairyland off the lake! This place has a few light rides, but nothing like Medusa. Melody used to go here as a wee little one. This was also as lit as Disneyland before Disneyland was built.

Trueburger

146 Grand Ave., Oakland, CA, 94612
www.trueburgeroakland.com
The burgers here are AWESOME. So juicy and so good. Critics say 11 out of 10. Seriously, get rid of that Big Mac and/or Whopper. They don't stand a chance against the almighty Trueburger. If you want to get a lunch before our wedding (dinner will be served around 6pm), this place is great to check out. Side note: there is a beautiful glass catheral (Christ the Light Cathedral) directly across the street that you can walk into and marvel at.

The Grand Lake Theater

3200 Grand Ave., Oakland, CA, 94610
www.renaissancerialto.com
If you are arriving the night before, or staying around the day after, you may want to catch a flick at the Grand Lake Theater! It's a historical looking theater and each room has a really cool theme around it. Like there is one room where it is Egyptian themed and there are sphinges and prymaids on the walls. Melody and Nathan use their MoviePasses here all the time!

Mad Oak

135 12th St., Oakland, CA, 94607
www.madoakbar.com
Super cool bar! Totally not a dive bar at all! It's very spacious, has a great outdoor area with some games, and their beer/wine selection is stellar. What's great is that it's walking distance from where our wedding will be, so if you are in the mood for a post-wedding chill spot, this is the place to be!

2. Visit San Francisco!

SF is cool and all. Oakland is better though. But hey, if you want to do the SF thing, the city is there when you need it. Fisherman's Warf, The Ferry Building, the Exploratorium, and Pier 39 are all fun spots. The MOMA just went through a really nice renovation too! You can also look up at the new Salesforce tower which I believe is now the tallest building in California. Woah.

3. Check out UC Berkeley campus

This is where Melody and Nathan went to college! The southside Telegraph Avenue area is super cool to walk around. The campus itself is big and scenic. If you are willing to pay $3.00, you can take an elevator to the top of the campanile and get a beautiful view of the whole Bay Area.
